Who may attend the CBES World
or Regional (e.g. ECBES)?
May attend World or Regional CBES:
1) all known established exhibitors
and suppliers in the world;
2) consultants and a few other invited
guests that have something particular to offer the industry at large
(academics, journalists, etc.)
Participation in CBES is by invitation only. It is expected that
all delegates attending CBES contribute to the general discussions
and conversations as much as they receive in return. To the extent
that professional contacts and industry-wide decisions are made
at CBES, it is important that those in attendance be the spokespeople
and decision makers for their respective institutions.
Because attendance at CBES is necessarily an expensive endeavor
for everyone, and all too brief, delegate registration is limited
to the directors and general managers of established butterfly exhibits
and suppliers, consultants and a few other invited guests that have
something particular to offer the industry at large (academics,
journalists, etc.).
I have not received an invitation. May I
attend anyway?
Invitations are sent to all known established exhibitors and suppliers
in the world – a mailing list of over 300 enterprises. The
industry’s data base is not complete and inevitably there
are qualified institutions that will not have received an invitation.
If you are the owner or director of an established butterfly exhibition
or supplier, and you have not received an invitation to CBES, please
write to any of the following:
Mary C. BabcockExecutive
Director of IABES
Joris Brinckerhoff, ICBES
Committee Chairman
While no screening process is perfect, an IABES committee of 2
exhibitors and 2 suppliers will decide in case of doubt the applications
of individuals that have not received an invitation. Committee members
are:
Exhibitors:
Enzo Moretto, Butterfly Arc,
Italy
Martin Feather, San Antonio
Zoo, USA
Suppliers
Joris Brinckerhoff,
Costa Rica Entomological Supply, Costa Rica
Dan Dunwoody, Butterfly
Dan’s, USA
To be accepted, one need only receive the approbation of any two
of the four committee members.
If I am not able to attend, are there alternatives to CBES?
For people that are in the planning or construction stage of their
facilities, there are alternative venues to CBES. One would be the
Invertebrate in Captivity Conference hosted by the Sonoran
Arthropod Studies Institute.
Professional consulting services are also available. For a listing
of consultants, please check the Industry Directory which can be
found in the website of Costa
Rica Entomological Supply.
CBES Disclaimer
Invitation or attendance at CBES does not constitute in any way
an endorsement by the IABES or the CBES organizers of the business,
ethical or environmental practices of anyone present.
